Cleaning Tips

At Carpet Cleaning Maid NJ, we have many years of experience in keeping your carpets clean.  Over the years, we have heard many different carpet cleaning tips that you can easily use at home.  Some of them are a little bit crazy, but some of them are actually very effective and can reduce the need for you to have your carpets cleaned and repaired professionally.  Here is a collection of the best carpet cleaning tips and tricks that we know of:

1.         The easiest way to take care of your carpets is to vacuum regularly.

You might not want to hear that you should vacuum more regularly, but unfortunately there is no way around it. Many carpet problems—including odors and discoloration—happen because dust, dirt, and other particles are ground in deep within your carpet’s fibres.  The best way to prevent that from happening is to remove the dust and dirt while it is still on the surface of your carpet, and before it becomes deeply embedded. You can also do yourself a favor by investing in a newer, high quality vacuum every so often, instead of trying to do the job with a run-down older model.  The better care you take of your carpet on a day to day basis, the less often that we will have to visit!

2.         Spots and stains can be tricky.  Don’t rub, blot!  And if you don’t know how to clean a particular spot, please give us a call.

If you own a carpet, you are guaranteed to have to deal with spot cleaning at some point.  Even if you have taken all possible preventive measures, accidental spots and stains will happen.  The most important thing to remember when you are dealing with spots and stains is that you should not panic.  There are many methods that are effective in removing even a terrible looking spot.  What is also important is that you start to clean the spot as quickly as is possible after the accident has occurred.  Generally speaking, you never want to rub or scrub a spot on your carpet.  That will just push the spot deeper into the carpet, and make it bigger.  Instead, you need to blot the spot, placing an absorbent towel over the spot to suck up the material.  If that doesn’t work to completely remove the spot, and you are stuck for a solution, please call Carpet Cleaning Maid NJ—we can help you start treating the spot right away.

3.         Any time that you use a store-bought cleaner, make sure to test it on a small hidden, spot on your carpet, to make sure that it will not harm your carpet’s color.

If you use a store-bought cleaner to try to treat a stain on your carpet, please make sure that you test a small, hidden area of your carpet with the cleaner and wait for it to dry before you apply the cleaner to your entire carpet.  If the cleaner is made by a reputable manufacturer, then its label should tell you to do the same thing.  Far too often, though, we have seen homeowners try to treat one small stain, and end up damaging the color of their entire carpet.  If you ever have any doubt about how to treat a stain on your carpet, just give us a call.

Please call Carpet Cleaning Maid NJ for the best carpet cleaning services all throughout New Jersey—we’ve got a million more tips for you.
